Teppan, the second restaurant at Mountain Residence, stands out for its refined Pan-Asian cuisine and modern, minimalist design. Elevated on a podium above the common space, the restaurant features lowered lounge seating, creating an intimate yet dynamic dining experience.
THE “HEART” ZONE
At the heart of the restaurant, a sleek bar island integrates a dessert showcase, drawing guests toward the center of the space. The open kitchen transforms dining into a spectacle as guests watch chefs perform a teppanyaki show on a wide metal grill – a hallmark of traditional Japanese cuisine.
ASIAN EASTHETIC
The design subtly references Asian aesthetics without relying on clichés. The flooring evokes the texture of tatami mats, while a ceramic screen separating the restaurant from the hotel lobby recalls the curved roof tiles commonly found in Japan and Korea. This striking partition consists of 7,500 hand-cast ceramic elements made from Ukrainian fireclay and smoked in a kiln to achieve their deep black hue.
ASIAN STYLE WITHOUT STEREOTYPS
– We aimed to create an Asian restaurant without stereotypical imagery or obvious visual tropes. Here, the reference to Eastern culture is expressed through tactile experiences, natural textures, and subtle, second-layer associations. This approach allowed us to maintain the space’s clean minimalism while conveying its essence with the most restrained means, – says Dmytro Bonesko, art director of YOD Group.
