A tea house in central Kyiv rethinks the traditional tea consumption culture. They serve tea without ceremonies and dragons to emphasize the quality of the product and embrace modern city habits. Creating a pure space with slight artistic hints around such a traditional thing as Chinese tea was pretty challenging.

The venue’s founders make accent on the quality of their product. They specialize in the farmer’s tea from the Chinese province of Yunnan, where ecological agriculture and manual processing of the tea are commonly used. Among varieties of tea, you can taste a drink from the tea leaves harvested from a tree whose age is 2400 years.

THE INTERIOR

The interior reflects their approach to the tea. This tea house is not about the art of presentation but digging into the essence of things. It is about exceptional quality and diving into new experiences. That is why we used warm soil colors, natural plaster on the walls, wood, textured surfaces, modern laconic furniture, and the final touch of contemporary art by the Ukrainian artist Ivan Grabko

THE SPACE

– We created the space for modern not-snobbish tea consumption. Understanding the tea culture is not from its ceremonial perspective but more as a way to broaden your knowledge about our world; we believe traditions are not restrictions but a solid base for new creativity. – shares Dmytro Bonesko, an art director of YOD Group.
