The restaurant is located in an old two-store building in the city center. It is a place for family gatherings and large companies. It is a spacious place with an open kitchen and a bar. A place of peace and enjoyment of delicious food and communication. The interior has a natural range of sand and earthy shades. The main materials are leather, light wood, glass and shell rock.
CONSEPT
SVIT is a European restaurant with its own cheese dairy, which serves its products in the restaurant and can also be bought to go. This feature became the inspiration for the interior details. We studied the process of cheese production and reflected it in custom accents. We have lamps that look like metal whisks used to whip the cheese mass. The lampshades above the large communal table look like baskets where cheeses are kept while the whey is strained out. The cascade of glass lamps in the staircase area resembles cheeses suspended for ripening. The unique sink in the washroom is also an analogy to the oblong bowl used in cheese-making.
DETAILS
‘Shell rock is an interesting authentic material. Its pores, highlighted in the right way, give it a deep, warm texture. Polished shell rock with closed pores is a completely different texture that also has its own character. We combined both options in the interior of SVIT.
‘When we removed the plaster from the walls, we saw a traditional building material for the region - shell rock. We decided to keep it and display it in the interior as a tribute to tradition. This is an example of the approach we called ‘terroir design’, when the interior becomes unique because of its locality and displays local traditions,’ says Dmitry Bonesko, art director of YOD Group.
